THIS DAY LAST YEAR

Chapter 1 - The Last Celebration.

April 10th 2021

It was grandma's 86th birthday, and we were making plans to make it special for her. At 12 AM, we (Dickie mama, Usha atha, Richie, Daddy, Mummy and I ) gathered for the midnight celebration and had family prayer followed by cake cutting. It is a must that, for every family gettogether that grandma speaks and tell us about her experiences and about how great our God is. For people who know my grandma, she does not finish her messages quick but takes all the time she wants. Like every night of the lockdown, Mumma and I sat for our regular night talk after everyone settled. Eating the cake, Mumma suddenly said, "J imagine if the lord calls grandma, how will we be re? " I immediately said, "Maa, why are you thinking like that the Lord will give grandma a long life. ?"

With tears, Mumma said, "Now that she is old aged, the lord can call her anytime. How will we enter her room? What will we do with all her things? And how much we will miss her. I immediately hugged Mumma and tried cheering her up. We spent another 30 minutes planning the birthday celebrations and went to bed.

In the morning, we had our breakfast and started preparing lunch. Both Maa and I decided to make all the dishes by ourselves. So I chopped all the veggies, and Maa was the head chef. We made vegetable fried rice and mutton curry, followed by lemonade. This was the last time that Maa and I cooked together and the last time we had Mum's cooked food. Every time I see other mothers cooking for their children, I miss her handmade food and her love.

For lunch, Maa said let's all sit down and have food in the Indian style, and we did. We ended up having lunch for two hours as we talked, laughed and remembered God's faithfulness, not knowing what was in store for us.

We spent the entire evening with grandma, singing songs and worshipping the Lord. Maa mostly led all our family prayers, and grandma shared the word. While having dinner, we all watched Tom and Jerry, as it was mom's favourite cartoon. That was it, as it was the last time we all gathered together and the last celebration with Maa. None of us ever thought in our wildest dreams that after exactly one-month Mumma would leave us.

Time does not wait for anyone, nor does it stop. Take time to make memories and make every moment worth it cause, believe me, you never know how what happens next.

I'm glad we made so many memories together as a family.

This year, everything was different nothing was the same. April 10th just came and went by. The Lord has been my constant throughout.

And there it was, our last celebration with Mumma,

This Day Last year.

By HIS Grace,

A Daughter with A Mother In Heaven.
